Join the Dancing with Vero's Stars Star Dancer Alumni Challenge with a one-time or monthly charitable gift:
- $15/month - You can help us provide 2 moms in our community with education and access to “baby-wearing”, which can help moms struggling with postpartum depression, promotes successful lactation, and increases maternal bonding, among other benefits.
- $25/month - You can help us keep babies safe from unnecessary harm or injury by providing car seats to help ensure safe travel, pack-n-plays to ensure safe sleep, and diapers to moms in need in Indian River County.
- $40/month - You can help us provide childbirth education, bedside lactation support, and a postpartum nurse home visit complete with depression screen and well-baby check for 3 moms in our community.
- $60/month - You can help us provide a mom, who otherwise might endure labor and childbirth alone, 1-on-1 prenatal support and labor & birth support by a trained Doula. In addition, moms who have Doula support are 40% less likely to require cesarean delivery.
- $75/month - You can help up provide tools and services such as much-needed registered nurse support to at-risk moms, first-time moms, and moms with chronic health conditions, which can reduce the disproportionately high fetal-infant mortality rate in IRC. Together, we can work to provide more babies the opportunity to thrive in our community.
Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition is working harder than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite in-person restrictions and decreased access to resources, we have continued to provide essential services to moms, babies, and families in our community in safe and creative ways. We have increased the essential safety items we offering to families during these uncertain times, we have seen an increased demand for our programs and we are continuing to welcome every mom and baby into our program to offer support, no matter the need.
COVID-19 has caused a most unfortunate postponement in our largest fundraising effort, Dancing with Vero's Stars. In 2019, this event raised nearly $500,000 for IRCHSC, and, with these funds, we implemented new programs with such success, they are now modeled by other Healthy Start Coalitions in the state. Additionally, the event's success in the last several years allowed us to do crucial work to significantly decrease the fetal infant mortality rate in our county.
We need to continue our efforts, but unfortunately this postponement, paired with the continuing decrease in state funding, some of our programs are now at risk.
Every mother and father wants the best for their baby, regardless of the socio-economic status, education level, zip code or family history a baby is born into. We strongly believe that every baby deserves a healthy start in life! With your help, we can come together to bridge the financial gap we face, and continue to provide a community in which all moms, babies, and families can thrive.
